Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said on Sunday that Hungary and Israel consider physical and digital security pillars of future cooperation, adding that the two countries sought to develop their economic ties on those foundations.

Ahead of a working breakfast with the Israeli prime minister, Minister Szijjártó thanked Benjamin Netanyahu for agreeing to meet with the executives of two Hungarian companies that play an important role in the development of bilateral ties.

He stressed that there were no guarantees for security either in the Middle East or in central Europe, and said that both Hungary and Israel had to keep working to improve the security of their citizens.

He added that those efforts typically involved technological challenges, pointing to the digital dimension of security in addition to physical considerations.

He said ensuring national security required "always being at the forefront in terms of technology".
