Márton Nagy, National Economy Minister, met with Haim Katz, Israel's minister for tourism, in Budapest on Tuesday.
The sides discussed ways to strengthen tourism ties and increase direct flights while sharing best practices in tourism management, the National Economy Ministry said in a statement. They also signed a memorandum of understanding on boosting bilateral tourism.
László Könnyid, CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, participated in the talks.
Last year, over 215,000 Israeli visitors spent 693,000 guest nights in Hungary, generating revenue of HUF 21bn.
Flights connecting Tel Aviv with Debrecen, Hungary's second-largest city, and Heviz, home to the world's largest biologically active natural thermal lake, could boost those numbers.
