On his way to the NATO summit in The Hague, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video on Facebook that with wars in the East and the South, "only now do we truly appreciate the value of peace and safety. We will preserve them."

In the modern world, even wars fought thousands of kilometers away have an impact, PM Orbán said. "If nothing else, through energy security: they raise the price of oil, gas and energy..."

The prime minister said migration had raised the threat of terrorist acts in Western Europe, further exacerbated "if anything happens in the Middle East."

"While we are a migrant-free zone, there is such a threat ... in our neighbourhood. Therefore, we cannot consider it zero, either. At times like these, we need extraordinary security measures, which I did yesterday; from today, strengthened anti-terrorism measures are in force in the streets of Budapest, at airports and busy traffic hubs," he said.
