Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said that despite the great geographical distance between Hungary and El Salvador, the two countries are fighting together a revolution of common sense against the liberal mainstream.

Speaking in San Salvador on Thursday, Minister Szijjártó said that "even though we are very far from each other, we are still fighting together a revolution of common sense against the liberal mainstream and woke ideology".

"All of which offers an excellent opportunity for starting economic cooperation, with special regard to the beneficial circumstances that the government of El Salvador ensures for knowledge-intensive sectors built on innovative technologies," he added.

Minister Szijjártó said that the economic strategy of El Salvador, based on security and low taxes, sounded very familiar to Hungary.

"We have essentially agreed with Minister of the Economy María Luisa Hayem that Hungarian companies representing high technology standards have a place here. We have already gained a good reputation in the pharmaceuticals industry and the digitalisation of the building industry, so further important economic partnerships will develop," he added.

He also said that it had given special importance to his current visit that no Hungarian foreign minister had ever visited the Latin American country.
